Selecting Your Perfect Canoe Holiday In Canada

In Canada, canoe holidays have become tremendously popular and they take place in Yukon, Ontario, British Colombia and Quebec. Whether you are a veteran river sport enthusiast or a beginner, there are trips for all levels. If you prefer to explore independently, there are a variety of canoe rental locations available as well. Canada is truly one of the worlds most picturesque destinations, where mountains cascade down to rivers, wildlife roams freely and there is adventure to be had in every corner of the vast country.

Selecting the holiday for you

There are a plethora of options available to you in Canada. Canoe holidays are designed fit the desires of many different people. There are both long and short holidays ranging from two days to twenty-one days. In addition, you can select whether you would like to participate in a challenging or a tranquil ride.

Some holidays are a combination of camping and canoeing while others involve lodge stays with daily canoeing and wildlife excursions. There are also a great variety of guided tours that will take you on the rivers that have been an integral part of the culture and history for centuries in Canada. Canoe holidays dont require that participants have any prior or special skills, however it is recommended that if you are seeking bigger challenges, that you do have some experience or knowledge of the sport beforehand.

Self-guided boating holidays

If you prefer to explore independently, you can certainly do so. In Canada, canoe rentals are readily available. Often times, when you rent a vessel you will be given information about different areas you should see and what is possible in each destination. Tour operators can even work with you to customise your holiday and provide you an outline to maximize what you will see on your self-guided tour.

Yukon Tours

If you decide to take a guided tour through the Yukon there are trips ranging from seven to twenty-two days. You can paddle down the historic Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson city or make your way down the Teslin River. For those who are interested in a more challenging tour, your guide will lead you through the areas more remote rivers such as the Big Salmon, Wind, MacMillan and Snake.

British Columbia

The Bowron mountain lake circuit in British Columbia has been rated one of the best in North America and it is comprised of eleven lakes and interconnecting rivers. The remarkable scenery provides the perfect background for both beginner and experienced paddlers to enjoy. There are seventy-two miles in the circuit to be explored, and you can work with your guide to see as much or as little as you like.

In Canada, canoe holidays certainly dont end there, though. With so many wonderful regions to explore there is certainly something for everyone.
