Food & Drink Innovation Network ? SOUTHERN COMFORT RE ...

November 9th, 2012

Hoping to boost sales on the lead up to the key festive trading period, Southern Comfort, part of Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, is bringing back its price-marked packs.

With 45% of annual spirit sales sold in the 12-week period before Christmas, Southern Comfort has re-introduced its range of price-marked packs, which were first launched in May 2011, to help independent retailers offer great value and boost Southern Comfort sales this winter.

The brand will be offering the price-marked packs to independent and convenience outlets via Cash and Carries across the UK.

Available now, the Southern Comfort Original price-marked packs include a 70cl bottle, offered at the promotional price of ?15.99, and a 35cl bottled priced at ?9.49, to help retailers capitalise on the growing demand for smaller spirit formats.

35cl spirits, currently growing at 10.9% are also the perfect size for shoppers purchasing spirits for casual drinking occasions or parties and can be complimented by the flavour extensions within the Southern Comfort profile, which includes Lime and Bold Black Cherry.

Price-marked packs not only offer retailers visibly priced spirit solutions, they also reassure consumers they are purchasing a guaranteed value for money option and getting the best price, designed for those looking to keep Christmas costs down.

With research revealing that 44% of convenience shoppers are more likely to buy a product on impulse with a price clearly displayed, the benefits to retailers looking to increase sales and profit opportunities this winter months are clear.

Southern Comfort marketing manager Gwen Ridsdale said:

?The price-marked packs have consistently performed well for us as a brand, so we are delighted to be able to offer them to independent and convenience store retailers again this year.

?With value for money being a large concern for consumers, especially in the run up to Christmas, highly visible price-marked packs reassure shoppers they are getting a good deal on a spirit brand they know and trust.

?Southern Comfort is committed to driving sales and profits, especially within the convenience channel, and we?re confident the new price-marked pack bottles will drive incremental sales for retailers.

?With more and more consumers choosing to stay at home for nights in, or to have a chilled drinking occasion with friends over the festive period, we?d recommend that retailers stock up on Southern Comfort price-marked packs to take advantage of the consumer interest Southern Comfort price-marked packs are sure to generate?
