Anonymous - Microsoft FINALLY Admits Wireless Headset problems - Kind of... (11/07/2012)

Via Major Nelson's blog (Community Director of Xbox Live) as well as the "GamerScore Blog", here's the latest word about the wireless headset for the Xbox 360:

We have received feedback from some customers that they have experienced issues while using the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, including difficulty syncing the headset to the controller, reception interference and audio sensitivity when playing action-packed games like Gears of War. We are committed to providing the highest quality accessories for Xbox 360 and would like to assist in troubleshooting and resolving those issues, whether by replacing or repairing the units under warranty. We encourage anyone experiencing issues with the Wireless Headset to call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX.
?

Since the release of the headset, several users have lit up forums, including the official Xbox.com forums, complaining about disconnects, the mic being too sensitive, low range, and other issues with the MS produced headset (most issues noted in the brief statement above). Several users begged for a recall, and apparently, their wish has been "sort of" granted.

Interestingly enough, when it was announced that users should call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX, several users immediately complained about the support line...

PLEASE find some other avenue than the horrid 800-4-myxbox ...

Have you seen this case of an Xbox CSR YELLING at a customer?

Stinks...

My experience with 1-800-4MY-XBOX has been nothing short of terrible.

The people at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX are brainless idiots. They know nothing about anything.

My buddy wasted $60 on that piece of garbage headset. He called them up to ask about the problem. They just kept on insisting that it was his router settings (WTF??) that was causing the issue and it wasn't their problem.

Bunch of frickin idiots.

Don't call that number for "help" unless you want to become 150% more agitated than you already are.

I spent over five hours on the phone with three different support agents getting the run around before they agreed to let me send my wireless headset in for repair.

I get to pay for shipping.
I emailed Major about it and he was very helpful, but the people working the phones at 1-800-4MY-XBOX are scheisters and there's no way around that. Here's a fun list of excuses they gave me while on the phone:
"Your 360 is out of warranty so we won't repair it."
"We don't repair accessories."
"Your wireless headset is out of warranty."
"There are no managers at the call center for you to talk to."
"We're not allowed to send people shipping boxes."

Have any of you had similar issues with Xbox tech support? My experiences have been largely positive.
